  24. What is EClock?

  27. EClock is a Clock-prog (what else :-)) which can be started from the
  28. CLI as well as from the Workbench. It's not extraordinary but it
  29. includes some usefull features:  EClock is able to pop up on the
  30. momentary screen automatically, you can choose as many alert times as
  31. you like ...

  33. Why have I renamed Clock v2.2 into EClock?
  34.  
  35. Clock started as a little assembler program with a source code length of
  36. about 4KB. Because many improvements were sent to me I included most of
  37. them in this source to please your needs :-). But then suddenly I
  38. reached a point from that on I was searching longer for where to insert
  39. the improvement than coding that feature.  (1) That's why I decided to
  40. completely recode Clock, and change the name.

  42. Because I had to learn Modula II at my university I bought a compiler
  43. for my Amiga. I liked it so much that I decided to write the new EClock
  44. in Modula II, to make it easier to include new features and remove bugs
  45. ...

  47. The key-file for registered Clock users is of course the same one as
  48. the one for registered EClock users. That means all registered (*Note
  49. Registration: Registration) Clock Users can use EClock without that
  50. requester going on your nerves, when you start EClock.

  53. Differences Clock/EClock
  54. ************************

  56.    *     There are two modi of EClock:
  57.  
  58.         -      UsePublicScreens only (*Note EClockPrefs: Main window
  59.           gadgets)      (use only PublicScreens to appear on) and
  60.           therefore is mostly system conform.
  61.  
  62.         -      UseEveryScreen (uses every screen to appear on) is not
  63.           as system conform,      but perhaps you want to have a clock
  64.           that appears also on screens like      DPaint, PPaint ...
  65.  
  66.    *     EClock now consists of three parts.
  67.  
  68.         -      EClock, the main program (*Note EClock: EClock), that is
  69.           active the hole time.
  70.  
  71.         -      EClockPrefs, the configuration program (*Note
  72.           EClockPrefs: EClockPrefs).
  73.  
  74.         -      And ERequester (*Note ERequester: ERequester), that is
  75.           started, whenever      you wish an alert requester to appear.
  76.  
  77.      This division was made, because you don't often have to use the
  78.      configuration program     and therefore don't have to waste the
  79.      memory for this part of EClock.

  81.    *     EClock has no limitation of the number of alert times.
  82.      (*Note timer-prefs: EClockPrefs timer window).      They are
  83.      depending only of the amount of memory you have and from the amount
  84.         of processor time you want EClock to give for handling the
  85.      alert times.

  87.    *     EClock supports wildcards. That means you can use e.g.
  88.      "??:00:00#?"  for     an hourly alert or "(??:00:00#?|??:30:00#?)"
  89.      for an half hourly alert.

  91.    *     EClock is now also able to start an alert at a special date or
  92.      day.      Wirldcards are of course supported so that you can e.g.
  93.      enter     "(Thu#?|Fr#?)" for Thursday and Friday. (Be carefull
  94.      this is localized)

  96.    *     EClock will replace the following 3 characters in the
  97.      requester text:
  98.  
  99.     `\'
  100.           This character will be changed to a return, so that a new
  101.           line is     started in the requester window. Now you are able
  102.           to create nicer     looking requesters with as many lines as
  103.           you like :-).

  105.     `%t'
  106.           This character will be replaced by the time the requester is
  107.           started.
  108.  
  109.     `%d'
  110.           This character will be replaced by the date the requester is
  111.           started.

  113.    *     Now, you can define as many screens, as you like to open
  114.      EClock on.      (*Note screen-prefs: EClockPrefs screen window).
  115.        You can select the x- and y-position ... where EClock should
  116.      open its     window on that screen. EClock will always prefer
  117.      screens, that are placed above     other ones in the listview
  118.      gadget.
